Desaru’s top-end resort — and the coast’s big 2026 change. The Kerry Hill–designed beachfront estate that opened in 2020 as One&Only spent a brief spell as “The Sirēya” and reopened as Mandarin Oriental, Desaru Coast in February 2026. It’s all suites and villas (many with private plunge pools), with a full spa-and-wellness sanctuary — and, since the relaunch, a proper kids’ club. So it’s no longer the adults-only escape One&Only leaned toward: it’s now a genuine, if very expensive, luxury-family option.

Our independent tip
Older reviews and listings still call this One&Only (or briefly “The Sirēya”) — it’s the same beachfront estate under Mandarin Oriental since February 2026. It’s the priciest bed in Desaru and built around privacy and special occasions; rates sit well above the other three Coast resorts, so book a couple of months ahead for the best of them.

Frequently asked questions
Is the One&Only Desaru Coast still open?
It’s rebranded, not closed. The resort that opened in 2020 as One&Only Desaru Coast had a brief spell as “The Sirēya” and reopened as Mandarin Oriental, Desaru Coast in February 2026 — the same Kerry Hill–designed beachfront estate under a new operator. Older reviews and booking listings under the One&Only name describe the same property.
Is Mandarin Oriental Desaru Coast good for families?
It can be now. As One&Only it leaned adults-only, but the Mandarin Oriental relaunch added a proper Kids’ Club — indoor play, an outdoor playground and a nature pond, plus junior-chef and young-gardener programmes — alongside the suites and pool villas. It’s the most expensive family option in Desaru, so for value with kids the Westin and Hard Rock are still the easy picks, but Mandarin Oriental is now genuinely on the table.
