3D2N Desaru Vlog — Hard Rock Hotel, Desaru Coast, Fruit Farm & Comma Bakes

Watch this if you’re torn between Hard Rock and the Westin for a family long-weekend and want to see the rooms, the resort grounds and the fruit farm before you commit.
What’s in it
- Crossed from Singapore by ferry (Tanah Merah → Desaru Coast, about 1¼–2 hours) to skip the land-border jam, then a short shuttle to the hotel.
- Stayed at Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast — a spacious, newish superior king with free filtered-water refill stations (skip the bottled water) and a balcony looking toward the water park.
- Their room rate did NOT include Adventure Waterpark access — a useful reminder to confirm waterpark inclusion against your specific package before booking.
- Walked over to the Westin to compare: pricier, but direct beach access and sea-view rooms with the pool right by the sand.
- Did the Desaru Fruit Farm tour plus the fruit-infused set lunch and the ATV add-on — a solid rainy-afternoon, kids-in-tow half day.
- Ate at Comma Bakes café near the SKS Mall retail strip (about a 10-minute walk) — the truffle carbonara is the order people repeat.
- Honest note: on a long weekend “half of Singapore is here” — pools and beaches get busy, midday heat is fierce, and afternoon rain is common.

The 10:10 a.m. ferry from Tanah Merah is the only sailing of the day — the crossing took about 1 hour 50 minutes, and a short shuttle (15–20 minutes) then dropped them at the hotel. Miss it and there’s no same-day fallback.
The Hard Rock Superior King room has both a filtered-water tap in the bathroom and a water cooler with a guest bottle in the pantry area — they never bought bottled water for the whole stay.
The ATV at Desaru Fruit Farm runs about RM 200 for 30 minutes on the power-steering double seat — not cheap, but it covers a trail separate from the walking fruit tour. The fruit farm tour itself starts at a timed slot (~11:30) and runs about an hour on foot, with a fruit-infused set lunch included in the package.
For a last-day lunch before the ferry, they ate at Wood Fire Burgers near the resort — gourmet beef burger, mushroom beef burger, cheese fries and a Biscoff milkshake came to RM 83.55 for two people.
The return ferry departs Desaru at 5:30 p.m. — they joined the immigration queue early to get front-of-ferry seats and noted luggage is stowed underneath, making it easy to retrieve.
Our take: The best all-rounder for a first family trip — it shows the two resorts most Singapore families choose between, plus the reliable fruit-farm backup.
